LAKESIDE LIVING, SAN FRANCISCO STYLE
Chestnut Hill Homes Offers a Lifestyle for All Ages at Pickering’s San Francisco By The Bay

For some fathers and sons, playing catch or going fishing may be favourite ways of staying close. For Steve and Jeff Moore, buying real estate seemed the better way to go.

The pair not only shares the same genes, but they’ll soon be sharing an amenity space as well, when they become neighbours at Chestnut Hill Homes’ popular Pickering condominium community, San Francisco By The Bay. Steve purchased a 16th-storey penthouse suite, while his son Jeff made his first foray into real estate with a two-bedroom suite two floors down.

“It wasn’t something that we were specifically looking for, but the fact that he’s there is great,” Jeff says. “We’re a close family, so that will be good to have.”

It was Steve who first heard about San Francisco By The Bay. Knowing he and his family wanted to make the move to condominium living, he quickly called for an appointment to see the site. As it turned out, he fell in love with it immediately, purchasing the 1,090-square-foot Taylor suite, a two-bedroom-plus-den, two-bathroom corner layout facing Lake Ontario.

Not only does he love the suite itself, but Steve – who describes himself as “an east-end guy” – already loves the location as well; central within Pickering but close to the lake too. “The location was key,” Steve says. “It’s close to Highway 401, you’ve got the Pickering Town Centre right there. It’s not downtown, but it’s not too far from anywhere. It’s a great location.”

Jeff agrees. Not only that, but as an architecture student, he took a close look at the design behind San Francisco By The Bay when his dad first told him about the community. Not only did he love the layout of his 832-square-foot Huntington suite, but he also loved the site’s exterior design. Researching Chestnut Hill, he was impressed with their reputation as well. “They looked really good and they appealed to me,” he says.

San Francisco By The Bay features two condominium towers of 16 and 18 storeys, joined together by a two-storey podium featuring 25,500 square feet of retail-commercial suites, including live-work units. Active residents will also appreciate the 12,500-square-foot amenity area, where they can work out in a fabulous fitness room, take a dip in the indoor pool, entertain friends in the party room that opens onto a deck, host gatherings in the multi-purpose room, or just unwind with the latest best-seller in the quiet reading lounge.

In the suites themselves, owners will reap the benefits of individually controlled heating and air conditioning, a stacked washer and dryer, four kitchen appliances, ceramics, engineered laminate hardwood flooring, and much more. These one- and two-bedroom designs, many with dens, start from the $170,000s.

Those who choose a town-home, meanwhile, will enjoy luxurious interiors framed by brick, stone and/or stucco exteriors, most with a rooftop garden. Each town-home includes two parking spots, vinyl casement windows, engineered floor systems, nine-foot main floor ceilings, designer-imported ceramics, custom-styled kitchen cabinetry, and more. Prices start from the mid-$200s.

The Presentation Centre for San Francisco By The Bay is located at 1215 Bayly Street, at Liverpool Road. Hours are Monday to Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.; closed Fridays; and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 905-831-3631, or visit www.sanfranciscobythebay.com.

FIRST-TIME PURCHASERS LEARN HOW TO TURN RENTING INTO OWNING AT SAN FRANCISCO BY THE BAY

A happy group of potential first-time buyers left the San Francisco By The Bay presentation centre recently, informed on exactly how easy it is to own at the Chestnut Hill Homes’ Pickering community. A First-Time Buyer banking seminar was hosted by the developer and provided them with all of the information they need to move from renting to owning.

A banking and mortgage expert was on hand, along with a real estate lawyer and San Francisco By The Bay representatives - providing purchasers with all of the facts of a first-time buy, and helping to ease any stress that may come with the new endeavour. All of those experts in one room provided a rare opportunity for buyers to build on their knowledge and to become fully comfortable with the purchasing process.

San Francisco By The Bay is drawing a whole range of buyers as well as first-time purchasers looking to move from renting into home ownership. The master-planned community provides an excellent entrance into the market, not only because of its exceptional prices, but also for its stunning design features and a range of amenities to enjoy.

Prospective first-time purchasers gathered at the San Francisco By The Bay Presentation Centre to learn the ins and outs of buying for the first time.

In the tower lobby, a concierge will also offer a range of services for residents.

Just outside of the community itself, buyers have plenty in the way of amenities as well, including the Pickering Town Centre, Pickering GO Station, Highway 401, a marina and water sports, plus walking and biking trails.

The one- and two-bedroom suite designs in the 16-storey tower – currently on sale – start from the $170s. There are also town-homes available that come complete with two parking spots, and most designs feature a rooftop garden. Prices start from the mid-$200s.

SNOW ADDS FESTIVE AIR
AT SAN FRANCISCO BY THE BAY

Recently, Santa made an early visit to Pickering by way of San Francisco – San Francisco By The Bay, that is. Chestnut Hill Homes’ popular community that overlooks the shores of Frenchman’s Bay set a festive, snowy holiday scene for guests. Everyone enjoyed entertainment by Victorian Carolers in period dress, plus hot chocolate, cookies and other refreshments. In the spirit of the season, guests were asked to bring non-perishable food items that were donated to the Salvation Army Hope Community Church, which provides food for Durham Region’s needy families and supplies the ABC Snack Box program in local schools.

During the afternoon, children visited with Santa, got their face painted, and received a fabulous balloon toy made by an elf! Their parents appreciated the opportunity to explore the luxurious, value-packed town-home and condominium choices remaining in this hot locale.

Chestnut Hill will break ground soon on the town-homes, and in the New Year, the 16-storey condominiums will be under construction as well. A future 18-storey condominium will share a two-storey podium with its sister tower. Here, 25,500 square feet of retail-commercial suites will be joined by a 12,500 square-foot amenity area with a fitness room, indoor pool, party room that opens onto a deck, multi-purpose room, and rooftop terrace.

At San Francisco By The Bay, a marina and water sports are easily accessible. Nearby walking and biking trails beckon, plus the community will include parkland and green space. The neighbouring Douglas ravine includes more than an acre of land the developers donated to the local Conservation Authority. Plus, the Pickering Town Centre, Pickering GO Station and Highway 401 are close by.

The one- and two-bedroom tower suite designs, many with dens, start from the $170,000s. Prices start from the mid-$200,000s for the brick, stone and/or stucco town-homes, most with a rooftop garden, and all with two parking spaces. Ask about Chestnut Hill’s “Rental Freedom Program.”

Chestnut Hill barbecue celebrates the ongoing success at San Francisco By The Bay

Chestnut Hill Homes welcomed homebuyers and VIP guests recently for a barbecue to celebrate the phenomenal success at their Pickering community, San Francisco By The Bay.

The theme of the day was celebrating and giving thanks, and the developer thanked the purchasers who enthusiastically found their future homes in the new condominium and town-home community, overlooking Frenchman’s Bay. They also thanked the local dignitaries, business owners and existing residents who came out for the event and have supported and helped create the vision behind this spectacular new community. Pickering’s mayor, Dave Ryan, as well as Ward 2 Councillor Doug Dickerson, Regional Councillor Ward 2 Bill McLean, and Ward 3 Councillor David Pickles were all present to celebrate the site.

Future residents also got a chance to meet each other and enjoy the beautiful Presentation Centre and Mike Niven decorated model suite.
